DRI Successfully Transplants BioHub into First Diabetes Patient

DRI Successfully Transplants BioHub. Diabetes Research Institute has successfully transplanted their bioengineered mini-organ called the DRI BioHub into the omentum of the first patient (Wendy Peacock).

A very close friend of mine contacted me with this exciting news. Her very young daughter lives with type 1 diabetes and is using pump therapy so this could possibly be yet another option for her child to be cured as well as thousands of others who suffer from this condition.

Let’s hope the FDA-approved Phase I/II clinical trial for the BioHub to be transplanted into the new omentum site works as planned to mimic the native pancreas to restore natural insulin production in people with type 1 diabetes. Read full article here!
